Burst!

Burst Main Menu

In the Burst! rhythm game, players set off fireworks to the beat of music. Doubling as an educational game, Burst! also teaches players what periodic table elements give fireworks their color in real life. This project is developed by Team KAIZEN and its educational non-profit studio Ingenium under their umbrella company Add-A-Tudez Entertainment.

As Burst!’s lead programmer, I designed and wrote code that affects everything from the GUI to the database. My contributions include

  • Refactoring code for maintainability
  • Managing Asset Bundles and memory usage
  • Combining art assets in Photoshop and Unity to create game menus
  • Designing 3D levels
  • Visualizing audio waveforms
  • Modifying particle systems
  • Animating cloth and other 3D objects
  • Defining, reading, and writing JSON databases

I’ve also made significant contributions to the Burst! Song Editor, a tool for defining levels in Burst!.
