OokiiSoraCon unveiled The Ookiimon League: Just Turned 10 and Got Kicked out of My House Cup Tutorial on July 19, 2019. This twenty-minute RPG explained the convention’s weekend-long, Pokémon-inspired house cup to attendees in a fun way. Throughout the weekend, participants performed activities distributed by nine “Gym Leaders” to earn points for their house, compete with other houses, and collect rewards and prizes. During opening ceremonies, an audience of about 100 attendees enjoyed watching a live playthrough of the game. Bryan and the guests of honor Zapp Brannigan’s Spaceship of Love accompanied the game’s written dialogue with a vocal performance.
I wrote the tutorial’s script, implemented the game in RPG Maker MV/Javascript, and edited images and audio. The house cup and tutorial combines ideas pitched by the convention chair Bryan Bolstad and the nine Gym Leaders. Sydney Schell created the Ookiimon League Logos and provided additional artwork for the tutorial’s climactic battle. And Cale Patenaude contributed the tutorial’s ending audio clip.
